SANITIZE
Can I sanitize some data in my disks/pendrive without encrypt them?
Sure! This module was created exactly to allow you to perform it.
Do I need to sanitize my data?
It depends on how much privacy you need. Simply deleting a file does not guarantee that the data is actually deleted. For MS Windows, deleting a file is just changing the first letter of the file name, and its contents remain entirely in the sectors of the disk. Another critical aspect is that deleted files can be recovered, either manually or automatically, as some malware does, for the purpose of exfiltration and leakage. Finally, if you are concerned about these facts regarding your data, the answer to this question is "YES".
Does OBAKE sanitize my data automatically after encryption/decryption operations?
By default, yes. Enable the SETUP-SECURITY-SANITIZE SOURCE control to get it automatically. You can also change it on-demand, without need to activate/deactivate all the time.
Why does sanitizing my data take so much time?
By default, each "wipe" actually performs six different operations to meet the most advanced standards related to secure data deletion. So, for example, if you set the wipe count to 10, each file will be overwritten and scanned 60 times - and this will take longer than if it were, for example, 3 wipes (18 operations per file).
